who said film was dead?

I recently acquired an old Holga 120S from a friend. Loaded it up with some Ilford HP5+ 400 speed film, taped up the back with lots of black tape and set out for a walk around Leeds. Another friend kindly offered to develop/scan the photos for me, and emailed me a couple of shots last night as a taster.

I'm rather thrilled with how they've come out.

How cool is that? Old camera with a plastic lens, fixed focus, fixed exposure. I *love* the second shot, and am considering getting them both printed and framed as art for the office. :-)

Ive been taking 35mm shots for my first year as a photography major and I really like film. I'm not sure I like all the anxiety that film brings to you. "Did I set the shot right?" "Did I develop this film right?" "Did I print right?" Thats just me. I really like how they come out though, and that I've totally manually created that image. Awesome.

I really like the 2nd one as well. Though I think the left edge could be more defined, I think that could be fixed during printing, if not it still looks quite good.
